Most anyone with a dog will tell you they prefer the company of their pup to their neighbors or coworkers. The reasons for this are many, including dogs are like family. But the best explanation is simple. Dogs are just better than people. Dogs are born to sniff. It’s how they analyse the world around them. It’s how they say hello, as impolite as it may seem to owners!
It’s no wonder that dogs like to use their sense of smell, as the area of the canine brain that is devoted to analysing scent is 40 times greater than that of the human and dogs can identify smells at least 1,000 times better than we can! The dog’s superior sense of smell comes from 220 million olfactory receptors in its nose. Compared to the human’s paltry 5 million, it’s no wonder smell is considered to be the dog’s primary sense.
At family gatherings, I’m pretty sure people are more interested in petting the dog than saying hi to you. Ain’t that the truth? They’re cute, they’re fluffy, and they’re friendly; traits – for the most part – that most humans do not possess. Dogs are the life of any party, and let’s be honest, they’re probably more adored than you in your household. Their cheerful greetings to you at the door after a long day can instantly make you smile and feel so at home and comfortable.
Ever hear about “companion pets”? In most mental illness cases, patients are literally prescribed an emotional support pet (usually dogs…sometimes kitties too). Ever seen a guide dog? Dogs are even used to find cancer. Yeah, CANCER. Meaning they’re so intelligent, they can find what a machine can’t. Dogs look forward to seeing their humans. There’s never a time where they aren’t wagging their tails in excitement when you walk through the door after work.
It would seem that when we present this question in a straightforward format like this, requiring just a logical moral decision, the vast majority of people believe that we will be bothered more by the human’s suffering than by the pain felt by the animal. However, the surprising psychological fact is that when we present the same question in a real-world scenario, things change, and the number of people who will empathize more with the dog is substantial.
Dogs really are wonderful creatures. And the more you meet people, the more you come to love dogs. They say dogs are better than humans and we’re sure a lot of you agree. Humans may be considered to be the most intelligent species, but there’s no way we can ever become better creatures than dogs. Dogs sleep when they are tired, eat when they are hungry, and play when they feel frisky. Dogs don’t second-guess their physical needs or paint them as good or bad – they accept them. Dogs enjoy sleeping, eating, relaxing and playing and they never feel like they should be getting things done instead.
Just as there are signs the dog is on the path to locating the target odor, there are also signs your dog is not tracking. The “Frozen Nose” is when the dog stops and holds the nose above the ground. This happens when the dog has detected the scent of a critter or perhaps the urine of another dog. The dog just found something that is interesting to the dog. And this makes them infinitely cuddly. Not like us baldy humans with our knobbly bits. It also makes them warm. I love to use my Labrador’s silky ears as hand warmers on cold nights. Highly recommended if you have a floppy eared dog of your own. Let your dog be your teddy bear come to life.
They instinctively know which patch of ground to choose as their designated toilet, leaving behind their fragrant offerings , proud and unconcerned, head and tail aloft. Again, no partner, no matter how well trained, would perform such a service for you. Dogs make great listeners, they listen to all your non-stop babbling and never cut in when you’re talking. Not to forget, there are the occasional head-tilts that make you go all ‘awww’. No matter what you tell them, rest assured that your secrets are safe with them (not so much with your human friends though).
But my dog was extremely delighted, she had never seen such a beautiful place, she was jumping on the ground, running here and there, licking me ,doing shitty stuff it was clearly visible that she was trying to make me happy. After seeing her doing all this I don’t know how all my worries and tiredness went away, I also started playing with her. Even we trekked down the hill. I was having a human companion and a dog. The dog made me forget all the worries and the person would have made it worse.
